- Velocity Model Building and Depth Migration
Quantitative Interpretation
back to topReflection amplitude is related to the elastic properties of rocks. Quantitative amplitude analysis can provide information that helps answer exploration questions and contributes to the integrated risking of prospects. Seismic amplitude measurements provide observed reflectivity data after calibration to well logs. Regional rock property trends enable expected reflectivity to be calculated. Observed reflectivity can be compared with expected reflectivity to predict lithology and fluid content and evaluate amplitude anomalies.

DUGREG
back to topDUGREG is a new seismic regularisation workflow devised by Downunder GeoSolutions.
DUGREG utilises the wave equation to downward continue the seismic data to a set datum, then upward continues it back to the surface. The returned, upward continued data has a trace perfectly positioned at the centre of each (inline/crossline/offset) bin. Azimuth and sampling issues are fully accounted for and it is capable of processing both marine and land data. Unlike other programs of this type, ‘leakage’ does not occur in DUGREG.
In practice significant improvements have been obtained using this program as opposed to conventional regularisation approaches.
Velocity Model Building and Depth Migration
back to topDownUnder GeoSolutions offers a comprehensive velocity model building and depth migration service. Migration algorithms and model building tools have been developed by our R&D staff. Current migration algorithms include:
- amplitude preserving Kirchhoff Depth Migration,
- amplitude preserving Gaussian Beam Migration,
- true amplitude Full waveform Shot Record migrations.
All are able to perform isotropic or anisotropic (VTI) migrations.
DownUnder GeoSolutions also has a comprehensive model building toolkit incorporated into a full pre and post stack interpretation package. The toolkit includes a robust and accurate Reflection Grid Tomography. We are able to build both isotropic and anisotropic velocity fields.
